Mattapoisett Ramp
The Mattapoisett Public Ramp is located on the north side of the Mattapoisett Harbor. The Mattapoisett Harbor is centrally located on the northern shoreline of Buzzard’s Bay. The approach is clearly marked on charts, and Ned’s Point Lighthouse stands at the entrance as a landmark. The harbor’s wide entrance and deep water made Mattapoisett he choice location for the building and launching of whaling ships. The mizzen mast of the “Wanderer”, which was the last whaling ship built in Mattapoisett in 1878, stands as the flag pole in Shipyard park at the Town Wharf.
To find Mattapoisett Harbor, use NOAA Charts 13229, 13230, or 13218.
As you are coming into the channel of the Mattapoisett harbor, you will see Ned’s Point Lighthouse and then the Mattapoisett Boat Yard on your Starboard Side. Follow the channel past Mattapoisett Boat yard to the Town Dock. The Town dock can be recognized by the Swordfish weathervane located at the end of the longest pier. The boat ramp is located between the two westernmost piers. There is enough water for sailboats to tie up at either of the floating docks at the end of these two piers.
